On April 21st 2015, Google updated their search algorithms to promote sites which are mobile friendly.
This means that if your site is not designed to work well on a small screen then you will appear lower in Google searches from a mobile.
Google will check that your site:
- Avoids software that is not common on mobile devices, like Flash
- Uses text that is readable without zooming
- Sizes content to the screen so users don’t have to scroll horizontally or zoom
- Places links far enough apart so that the correct one can be easily tapped

With more people using their Smartphone and tablet to surf, it is important to know that your website works on a small screen.
